01Deck building
ToM cards are split into units and supplies, and every one of them has a gold cost. Units are deployed on the battlefield; supplies are played at different moments to decide the outcome of each fight.
A basic deck holds a minimum of 48 cards and belongs to each player: everyone plays with their own.
Ratio by cost
- Cost 5
- 1 card
- Cost 4
- 2 cards
- Cost 3
- 3 cards
- Cost 2
- 4 cards
- Cost 1
- 6 cards (minimum)
- Total
- 16 cards × 3 copies = 48
Every card, unit or supply, is run in three copies. That is where the total comes from: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 = 16, and 16 × 3 = 48.
The deck must hold at least 10 units, of which a minimum of 3 at cost 1 and 2 at cost 2. The rest is filled with units or supplies up to the 48.
The deck evolves
R1–2
Rounds 1 and 2
Played with cost 1 and 2 cards only.
R3–4
Rounds 3 and 4
Cost 3 cards are added before round 3 begins.
R5–6
Rounds 5 and 6
Cost 4 cards are added before round 5 begins.
R7+
Round 7 onwards
Cost 5 cards are added and the game finishes with the full deck.
If your opening hand in round 1 is five supplies, you could not deploy a single unit. Only in that case may you reveal the cards, reshuffle and draw five again, repeating until you draw a unit.
